Chair Responsibilities

This section overviews responsibilities of chairs. Each of them is covered in subsequent sections.

Chairs are the busiest users of EasyChair. Their main responsibilities include the following:

  • submission page configuration
  • deciding on the reviewing model
  • setting-up the program committee
  • review form configuration
  • overviewing the reviewing process
  • making decisions about submissions (including acceptance and rejection)
  • communication with authors

When decisions have been made, there may still be many things to do, some of which can be done in EasyChair and some cannot. The most important remaining work includes

  • creation of the program,
  • conference proceedings creation and publishing, and
  • the conference registration.

All of these parts can be done in EasyChair. However, since each of them is also full of options and features, in EasyChair they are separated in three different environments: smart program, proceedings management and registration.

It is common but not necessary that chairs become program, proceedings and registration managers. Each of these environments is discussed later.
