Abstract

Hexagonal structures are frequently used in most industrial projects (aeronautics, aerospace, aerodynamics...), due to their capacity for weight reduction and efficient energy absorption, as well as their enhanced performance and excellent mechanical strength.
This study examines the energy variation generated by an impactor in hexagonal structure, taking into account the evolution in-plane deformation. Finite element numerical modeling is performed using the Abaqus analysis.
