Submission information
We invite researchers, professionals, and innovators specializing in VR, AR, MR, and AI to submit their original work to our program. Submissions should focus on integrating, applying, and advancing XR/VR with AI technologies and vice versa, demonstrating novel ideas, addressing current challenges, or exploring future directions for these dynamic fields. The conference proceedings will be published by IEEE Computer Society Press and submitted for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Submissions will undergo a thorough peer review by members of the international program committee. Contributions of distinguished quality will be selected for best paper awards and invited to submit extended versions for a special section in the Computers & Graphics journal (Elsevier) and International Journal of Semantic Computing.
The following paper categories are welcome:
- Full & short papers constituting the conference's core and presenting new and innovative research in AI and VR/AR.
- Work in progress providing the opportunity to present latest results, including preliminary ones and initial ideas.
- Demo & video papers describing a concrete system, prototype, or proof of concept and allow for interactive presentation at the conference.
For workshop and special session papers, please check the conference's website: https://aivr.science.uu.nl/2026/
Authors should submit their manuscripts in double-column IEEE format following the official IEEE Manuscript Formatting guidelines and considering the page limits and anonymization requirements of the related track as indicated below. Also consider the IEEE policies for publications (i.e., you must own copyright to all parts and the manuscript must be original work and not currently under review elsewhere).

Venue
IEEE AIxVR traditionally rotates each year between countries in the American, European, and Asian time zones. After the successful event in Lisbon, Europe, last year and Los Angeles, CA, USA in the year before, we are excited to bring IEEE AIxVR back to Asia. In 2026, the conference will be hosted in Japan at the University of Osaka, a vibrant city in a country known for its rich culture, cutting-edge innovation, and timeless beauty.
IEEE AIxVR is a 'physical first' event, meaning we expect participants to join on location but acknowledge that issues such as visas and limited mobility may prevent authors from traveling to Japan. Therefore, although not providing a fully hybrid experience, authors who do have travel restrictions will be able to present their work remotely.
