mobil.TUM 2025
14th International Scientific Conference on Mobility and Transport November 24th-26th 2025, Singapore
Shaping Tomorrow’s Cities: Sustainable Transport and Smart Growth
Organized by TUM Asia and NTU in Singapore
Call for Papers
68% of the world’s population is projected to live in urban areas by 2050 (UN, 2018). 23% of global CO₂ emissions are directly contributed by the transport sector (IEA, 2021).
These facts suggest an urgent need for cities to adopt sustainable transport solutions and smart growth strategies as urbanization is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, with cities becoming the focal points of human activity, innovation, and economic growth. While this shift offers opportunities for innovation and prosperity, it also brings challenges such as congestion, pollution, inequity, and overburdened infrastructure. This theme focuses on reimagining urban spaces to support economic vitality, environmental sustainability, and improved quality of life. From the integration of multimodal transport systems and clean energy to urban planning innovations that prioritize inclusivity and resilience, the session aims to address the challenges and opportunities for future-ready cities. For more solutions, we invite you to share your ideas on how to develop cities embedded with sustainable transport solutions.
The mobil.TUM International Scientific Conference on Mobility and Transport is a platform for practitioners and researchers to meet and exchange their knowledge and experiences. Traditionally, it takes place in Munich, Germany. The 14th edition of mobil.TUM will be held in Singapore, organized by TUM Asia and NTU. This is a unique opportunity, which enables keynote speakers from diverse and multi‐faceted research backgrounds to provoke debates, as well as posters, presentations, discussions, and interactive networking formats. Moreover, the perspective from the Asian landscape presents an opportune moment, which will enable inspiration from the latest innovations and explore new directions which can help shape cities for a sustainable future.
Key topics of interest include, but are not necessarily limited to:
• Smart Growth Strategies
Urban densification and land-use planning, smart cities and IoT-enabled urban systems, equitable housing and mixed-use development, green building design and eco-friendly infrastructure….
• Technology and Data in Urban Planning
Role of big data, AI, and digital twins in urban mobility, geospatial analytics for transport and urban design, smart parking and traffic management systems…
• Sustainable Transportation
Electric and autonomous vehicle integration, active transport (walking, cycling) infrastructure, public transit innovations and accessibility (rail and road), low-emission transport systems and policies….
• Environmental Impacts of Transport
Transport impacts on climate change, noise emissions, gaseous emissions, visual impacts, social equity and emissions exposure, …
• Public Transport Concepts for Green Cities
Latest developments in propulsion systems, new and improved technologies, effects of transition from “vehicle oriented” to “people‐oriented” ideology, public transport sustainability, system effectiveness indicators, latest planning and optimization techniques in the railway industry …
• Policy, Governance, and Equity
Public-private partnerships in urban projects, policies for decarbonizing transport systems, ensuring equity and inclusion in urban development…
Contributions from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, regions, and cultures are very welcome. We will accept proposals for lectern presentations, poster presentations, where research ideas and works in progress can be discussed. Criteria for acceptance are:
• Relevance for the conference’s general topic and focus on selected topic areas
• Scientific quality in terms of methodologies applied and data handling
• Usefulness for practice is supported by successful implementations and/or relevance for scientific progress
Submission of proposals
Please submit your extended abstracts (1,000 – 1,500 words) including title, authors, affiliation, contact information of corresponding author, and keywords using the conference website
Extended abstracts should include:
• Problem statement
• Research objectives
• Methodological approach
• (Expected) results
Authors of accepted proposals will be invited to optionally submit a full paper by October 10th 2025 (4,000 – 6,000 words). Full papers handed in on time will benefit from a peer‐review. Contributions will be included in the conference either as a presentation in the plenary sessions or as a poster to be presented and discussed in a dedicated poster session. After the conference, authors will be invited to update their papers or abstracts based on the reviews and conference discussions and send a final version by January 2nd 2026, Selected papers that have been reviewed favorably are intended to be published in Lecture Notes in Mobility book series by Springer.
