Cities, as the central arenas of human habitation, are simultaneously confronting multifaceted challenges including sustainable development, social equity, cultural heritage preservation, climate adaptation, and technological governance. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the forum invites global community of scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to a critical and constructive dialogue on the transformative intersection of urbanism and artificial intelligence (AI). The theme, “Urbanism & AI for Better Human Settlement: Reflection, Re-creation, and Regeneration,” seeks to address these contemporary imperatives and foster systematic, interdisciplinary reflection on a smarter, more human‑centered, and sustainable urban future.

Submission Guidelines

The full paper template has been uploaded to the conference website IFoU 2026 Conference; please download it and refer to it for all detailed formatting rules.

• File format
  Submit a Word document (.docx) with A4 portrait layout, using the template’s predefined styles.

• Length
  Main text (excluding notes and references): 5,000–7,000 words.

• Abstract & keywords

  • Abstract: 200–300 words, clearly stating: (i) state of the art, (ii) deficiencies, (iii) methods, (iv) results, (v) lasting contribution.

  • Provide 5 keywords (separated by semicolons).

• References

  • Use the Harvard author–year system (e.g., Smith, 2024).

  • List references alphabetically by first author’s surname.

  • Maximum 30 references – include journal articles, conference papers, books as per the template examples.

• Figures, tables, and equations

  • Place figures/tables near their discussion; each must have a number and caption.

  • Submit images separately as PSD or JPG, resolution ≥ 300×300 dpi (colour acceptable).

  • Equations: display on separate lines, number consecutively in parentheses; use SI units.

• Maps (if applicable)

  • Use official base maps from the Ministry of Natural Resources (http://bzdt.ch.mnr.gov.cn); prefer the English version if submitting in English.

  • Must include the map approval number.

• Review and publication process

  • All submissions undergo format check and peer review.

  • Authors will be notified of acceptance before 15 December 2026.

  • Accepted papers become the copyright of the conference (including electronic rights); translation or republication requires editorial consent.

  • The editorial team reserves the right to revise and abridge content.

  • During typesetting, authors must revise text and images to meet publication standards; failure to do so may result in rejection.

• Originality and dual submissions

  • The work must be original. If also submitted to a recommended journal, additional journal requirements apply.
