About ICOCFI 2023 Conference.
The International Conference on Olive Cultivation Future and Industry (ICOCFI 2023) March 14-15, 2023 in College of Science, Jouf University, Al-Jouf City, Saudi Arabia.
Preface.
In KSA, olive cultivars have been introduced through the cuttings and the import of young trees from Jordan and Syria. Many studies reported that the significant factor affecting olive productivity and yield was insufficient pollination due to self and cross incompatibility. The olive industry has emerged as an essential sector in KSA. The olive industry has emerged as an essential sector in KSA, where the plantation of olive trees started in 1980. Since then, the number of olive plantations has increased and were distributed in the northern parts. The amount of olive consumption of irrigation water is the lowest among the fruitful trees. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will soon join the International Olive Council, and this will increase interest in the future. They cover now large areas in Al-Jouf (Sakaka, Quarait, Bousaita), Hail, and Tabouk provinces. In 2011, the planted area of olive reached about 23245 ha of olive trees in KSA, out of which 22495 ha (96.77%), 95% were at the young age of fruiting (less than 10 years) And production of olive oil reached 18 million liters 2022.
Aims and Objectives of the Conference.
The International Conference on Olive Cultivation Future and Industry (ICOCFI 2023) aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers, and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Science and Techniques for the Development of a Sustainable Olive culture and Olive Oil. It also provides a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, concerns, practical challenges encountered, and solutions adopted in the fields of Science and Techniques for the Development of a Sustainable Olive culture and Olive Oil. From Jouf University, located in the Al Jouf region, we are organizing this event in which researchers, organizations, and companies related to the olive tree and olive products will gather to pursue the aims of the conference further. Among those aims is to bring together the latest advances and knowledge in the areas of molecular biology ,breeding and propagation; reproductive and, genomics and biotechnology; crop response to biotic and abiotic stresses and crop management; economics of the olive crop and olive products; table olive and olive oil quality, authenticity, technology, and by-products; and nutrition and health. And were amount of olive consumption of irrigation water is the lowest among the fruitful trees the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will soon join the International Olive Council, and this will increase interest in the future. In summary, we cover critical topics of the olive crop and olive products, focusing on research, technological, industrial, and commercial aspects. Scientific contributions will be combined with displays by exhibitors to showcase their products and services related to table olives and olive oil.
